The Tri-Lakes Monument Fire Communications Auxiliary consists of radio communication volunteers that assist the Tri-Lakes Monument Fire Protection District. The Auxiliary members are a team of Amateur (Ham) Radio operators trained on fire department radios and other communication systems. The Communications Auxiliary is called into service during major events or disasters, including telecom outages, power outages, wild fires, severe weather, flooding, train derailments, and acts of terrorism. The Auxiliary makes use of both amateur radio and public service radio, depending on the situation and communication need.
